Sunrise Family Session | Hyalite Reservoir

The other day I was talking with some of my other clients about Hyalite. And we both had the same viewpoint about the Hyalite area, it’s kind of like a mini Glacier. It doesn’t really get much better than Glacier itself. Now, my husband and I have been saying this for years. It was something we always loved when were in Bozeman back before the crazy busy days we know Hyalite as now.

If you plan it right, we can escape the crowds and still have a great time up at Hyalite. One way is an early morning sunrise session. Don’t let the sun fool you. It was darn chilly this morning and the below freezing morning temps were enough to make us go back to the car to warm up a few times.

I loved this session for more reasons then just my normal obsession. I had met this couple years before at ONE dinner that Rooted in the Gorge put on. His job kept him moving around and she was there to help bring him to a new place. A place that would only be his stomping ground for a few weeks. We chatted the night away. Exchanged Instagram handles and moved on. I followed them on a lot of their fun adventures over the years and then an inquiry came in. They were going to be in Montana and wanted family photos!

I was so excited to be able to meet back up with them. It’s funny how life brings you together sometimes. We froze. Had some fun with photos. Warmed up in the vehicle for a moment. Took more pictures. I showed them a great hiking spot and we went our separate ways again. But what a blast to share one of my favorite spots in Montana with them.

Andrew & Sarah

Andrew and I met in college. We were friends at first. The first time we hung out in a sort of a more than friendship way, we were drinking and just hanging out in the dorm room. Andrew proceeded to tell me “I think I am in love with you already”.

We had our ups and downs as any couple does, but from that moment I think we both knew that it was meant to be.

We got married on June 10th, 2017 (so in two days it will be our 5th wedding anniversary!!!!). Our wedding day was this insanely warm day (we got married in the UP (Upper Peninsula of Michigan) in the beginning of June - which a lot of times could still mean snow - instead it was 90 degrees, the most beautiful day, SO windy, with this amazing storm at the end of the night when our reception was just ending. The person who owned our venue said it reminded her of my and Andrew’s love. Fiery, all encompassing, endless and contagious energy, and like a wonderful whirlwind that takes everyone along with them on a beautiful ride.
